This past week has been by far the most overwhelming yet wonderful week of my life . With Thatcher here, I can honestly say that our life is complete. I know the hormones have something to do with it (the random crying episode tally now stands at 3!), but we just feel so overcome with love and gratitude for what we've been given. And then on top of it, we are surrounded by so many people who have been entirely too generous. I am trying to soak in every minute, even when we're on wardrobe change #4 at 4:30am. I know it's going to fly so fast.
In Thatcher's first 6 days, here's what we've been up to!
Tuesday, February 15 - we took our first trip to the pediatrician! Thatcher was back to 7 pounds, 10 ounces (so thrilled to hear that the few days of pain my "girls" have been enduring are working to keep Thatcher healthy). That puts him 1 ounce shy of his birth weight, which is great. He was looking a little yellow, so the pediatrician had us go for another round of bloodwork, and thankfully his bilirubin levels are just fine. He was a trooper getting his little heel pricked - the husband had to take him into the lab because I couldn't handle it in my hormonal state!

Sunday, February 13 - we took our first bath! We can't put Thatcher in a tub yet because of his cord and wee wee, but we gave him a sponge bath to make sure he keeps that irresistible baby smell!
All day every day - we stare at this cute little face and take thousands of pictures. The husband is now very into photography. Who knew? The man that used to roll his eyes every time I got the camera out is now very into capturing memories.
Tuesday, February 15 - we had 2 very rough nights of sleep after getting home from the hospital. We asked our pediatrician about it and she suggested lots of stimulation and playing at night, as well as some stacked feedings, so that he is worn out by the time we're ready for bed. So we got out the playmat and just enjoyed time with our little man. He loved it! The pediatrician also said we were ready for tummy time, so we did that, too! Thatcher rolled over last night not once but twice (from stomach to back), and the exercise did the trick. He slept from 12:00-4:00am (please don't judge - I have been religious about feeding him every 2-3 hours until that stretch) and then again from 4:45-8:00am. Success! Here's hoping we can do it again tonight!
Saturday, February 12 - our house became a home when we brought Thatcher home from the hospital. My mom came ahead of us and had everything bright and cheery and clean, and it was amazing to walk into a clean house with our new addition. We arrived home around 2:00pm on an absolutely gorgeous day: not a cloud in the sky and about 50-60 degrees. My in laws also came over to visit that afternoon, and after that, we settled in for our first night together (which was hard - we were both so paranoid that he wasn't swaddled correctly, that he was too hot, too cold and everything in between!)
This afternoon we have a photographer coming for his newborn shoot - I'll post his birth story soon, too!
